The juniors had a strong showing at this third meet of the season. Next up is another away meet Monday against Enfield.
Swimmer of the week is back!
This week after talks with the other coaches we decided to choose
Talia Staiger has been showing great dedication to the team despite it being only her first year with us. She is consistently at practice everyday and always comes with a good attitude. Since the beginning of the season, Talia has been striving to improve her technique in all strokes but has made incredible improvement in her breaststroke. Through coming to practice eager to swim day after day with a positive attitude in addition to always trying to improve her strokes, Talia is not only a model of what a good swimmer is, but a model of what a good teammate is. We're looking forward to all she can do this season.
Sophia Congelosi has significantly improved since the beginning of the swim season this year. Sophia came in unsure of what to expect on a swim team and through practice and encouragement has fully embraced swimming. This past week at our first home meet Sophia was unsure how she felt diving off the block in the meet. To any new swimmer the starting block is one of those hard obstacles to overcome. With a little encouragement Sophia decided to master the starting block and did an excellent job. For the rest of the meet she happened to be put in lane one where the starting block was broken and she couldn?t have been more disappointed. Sophia even tried to switch her lane with other swimmers in order to get in a lane with a starting block. Sophia?s attitude towards practicing and her perseverance is something that has made it easier for her to overcome her fears and improve her strokes greatly. We hope that Sophia continues this positive outlook on swimming for the rest of the season and we look forward to where that takes her.
