We?re blessed with some great photographers in Ireland, so hats off to Ryan Byrne of INPHO for winning the sports action photo of the year with this great hurling picture.
Tonight the AIB Press Photographer Association of Ireland awards are taking place. With more categories than you can shake a Polaroid picture at there are lots and lots of class pictures doing the rounds but the winner in the ?sports action? category really caught or eye.
Taken by INPHO?s Ryan Byrne during the Leinster senior club hurling clash between Wexford?s Oulart-The Ballagh and Dublin?s Kilmacud Crokes, it captures a moment in the final stages when the heavens opened above Parnell Park.
The four players in the shot are Ryan O?Dwyer, Dillon Mulligan, Darren Nolan and Garrett Sinnott and the Wexford side would eventually eke out a one-point win.
A worthy winner we think.
